MANNGARD To Re-Release Debut Album Next Month
January 23, 2006Norwegian extreme metallers MANNGARD will re-release their debut album, "Circling Buzzards", on February 20 in Europe and March 31 in the U.S. via Nocturnal Art Productions/Candlelight Records.
The lyrical concept on "Circling Buzzards" is said to be inspired by the works of American novelist William Faulkner: "A family living on a farm at the back of beyond in the American Midwest is driven to monstrosities by a tyrant father. Travellers passing by tend to disappear, and rumors have it they end up in a nearby quagmire." "Circling Buzzards" draws musically from mixed parts speed, prog, death metal, hardcore and more. Witnessing the 2005 Hole In The Sky concert, Terrorizer magazine opined that MANNGARD "comes at you from all angles, sometimes like MESHUGGAH and sometimes like a jazz band mangled on barbed wire."
MANNGARD, who recently signed with Nocturnal Art Productions (the label owned/operated by ZYKLON/EMPEROR guitarist Samoth),have already played in all the biggest Norwegian cities in addition to performing twice at the Hole In The Sky heavy metal festival. The Bergen-based quartet (who boast a 12-string bass player!) have also provided support for renowned Norwegian metallers RED HARVEST.
"Circling Buzzards" was engineered by Brynjulv Guddal and Herbrand Larsen (ENSLAVED).
